Chernobog Takes Roanoke, today!
Okay, I'll admit it. I posted this story way back in May. However, I think it fits well into the Spooktober theme. I have edited it and slightly modified a few minor details here and there to blend it with the Spooktober saga. Can you pick out the detail(s) that this story shares with the others so far? (Hint: there is one detail/thing that appears in EACH Spooktober story!)
Anyway, this story is based upon my high school friends. The plot is entirely fictional, but the characters' names match those of my friends and their personalities are quite similar. Their language, too, is coarse, as ours so often was when we hung out. So in the way of a trigger warning in that regard, you have been given fair warning! Another point: this story takes place within the same universe as many of my others do. Another challenge to you, the reader, is to try to place the sequence of events from past stories I've posted on this blog into the timeline of that universe! You know, if you want to and are interested. Stories are immortal; tales are told over and over, passed down orally, and written down. In doing so, they keep the heroes and heroines of old and their journeys alive and relevant, forever. In that way, even now, in the minds and hearts of the reader, the Odyssey keeps noble Odysseus alive in its pages, still struggling, still conquering, still voyaging, still heroing. In this way, King Arthur is both the once and future King, and indeed the King of Now; he will live on thusly forever, so long as man has not forgotten the tale. In writing this story, I have looked back with nostalgia on my friends and good times with them, and synthesized those misadventures with some creative horror work. We will live on together forever in this tale, immortalized in the figures and fonts of the .pdf file, and (such is my great hope) in your hearts and minds, also! There, I've gone and said something deep. This post is complete now. Enjoy! T.D. 10/25/2018
